This is a subject about which I dislike speaking. One of the reasons is that I don’t want to admit that I am ever blocked creatively. I prefer to think of myself as a super-creative individual who can conjure fine art pieces and design solutions at a moments notice. However, I’ve been feeling blocked this past week. I blame the stress from some computer malfunctions. I don’t handle computer malfunctions (kernel panic) very well and allowed the situation to envelope me in a blue/black cloud of stress and dark thoughts.
Whatever the cause of my creative block, I need to get out of it. I am on my way back to being super-creative again. This past weekend my husband and I drove to the west coast of Florida. We stayed with very creative friends Candace Knapp and Bjorn Andren. We visited the Salvador Dali Museum, Florida Craftsmen Gallery and many other venues that displayed art and arts related work. Even a visit to IKEA helped to stimulate my love of color and pattern.
Candy and I discussed setting fine art goals for ourselves. Talking with Candy about the creative process and seeing some of her works-in-progress made me want to move right into her studio and begin to work. My head is full of ideas and my finger tips are itching to use my art tools. My goals for 2013 are to explore more patterns in nature and to experiment with more tactile and textural materials.
