Two weeks ago my daughter asked if I might send her some paintings for her new, larger apartment. She inquired about a nearly finished piece from the keepsake series. I haven’t added a piece to the series in a while because I’ve been concentrating on greenery and patterns found in nature.
I offered to finish the piece and send it. I still had the ancient pot from my grandmother, the colander and the white bowl from my mother and of course, apples in the refrigerator. As I worked to add the final highlights and shadows to the piece I began to reminisce about helping my mother and grandmother grind the warm, cooked apples into applesauce. The memories were so strong that, by the time I signed the painting, I could smell the apples and cinnamon!
It is so beautiful! I smell the applesauce too Caren. She will love & cherish the painting.
What a beautiful painting, and story , I love your use of the cobalt .
