What I Never Knew painting

What I Never Knew

I recently sold a small painting to the University of Texas Health Science Center NE in Tyler, Texas. The painting was a a favorite of mine and hung in my studio. It is one of two drybrush portraits that I completed of my son, Joel, when he was ten or eleven years old. Both portraits captured a contemplative sensitivity that was not often displayed for others to see.

I spoke recently with Robin Connelly, the interior designer who is the Project Manager with The University of Texas System, Office of FacilitiesPlanning and Construction. Robin told me that the majority of artwork that was chosen for this location depicted flora and fauna of the Texas piney woods. “What I Never Knew” will be placed in the waiting area of the Breast Center at Tyler. Robin felt that among the landscape images there should be a more personal human element. She told me that the painting had just the right feel.
